Slippery Rock University junior forward Dara Demich and junior defender Sam Thornton were named to the 2015 Conference Commissioner’s Association All-Atlantic Region women’s soccer team Monday.
The duo earns the recognition after helping lead Slippery Rock to a 13-6-1 record and to the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament. It is the first all-region award for both players. Demich received first team honors while Thornton was one of four defenders named to the second team.
Demich led Slippery Rock in points (27), goals (12), game-winning goals (four) and shots on goal (40) to go with three assists as well. She finished the year tied for third in the PSAC in total points and second in goals scored. Thornton was a key figure on an SRU defense that allowed just 15 goals on the year, the third fewest in the PSAC. The SRU women’s soccer program has recorded 20 consecutive winning seasons. The streak ranks seventh all-time in NCAA Division II.

Slippery Rock University senior Ryan Lutke was named to the 2015 Conference Commissioner’s Association All-Atlantic Region men’s soccer team Monday. Lutke earned first team all-region recognition after helping lead Slippery Rock a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship as well as a 14-6 overall record in his final collegiate season. The all-region award caps off a decorated career for Lutke, who started 53 of 76 games played at Slippery Rock, appeared in three PSAC title games, was a part of two PSAC championship squads and made one NCAA Tournament appearance.
