Three additional people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Butler County.
Butler Health System officials announced the update Sunday afternoon. They say all three patients are Butler County residents and have been instructed to quarantine at home.
All three patients were tested at the drive-up testing facility near the hospital.
Dr. John Love is an infectious disease specialist with the Butler Health System.
“Everybody needs to know the signs and symptoms. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Stay at home when you are sick. Call your doctor in advance of any visit,” Love said.
“Limit your movement in the community, and limit visitors to your home. And again, very importantly: Wash your hands often with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, and don’t touch your face.”
Ken DeFurio is the Butler Health System CEO and president.
“I am pleased that the BHS specimen collection site, which we opened as quickly as we could, allowed us to identify these patients and avoid visits to doctors’ offices and the Emergency Department,” DeFurio said.
“We are working hard to keep every patient, staff member, and the community at large safe and healthy. We are working around the clock to improve testing turnaround time. Everybody in the community needs to limit exposure and help to prevent transmission of the virus”.
Butler Health System officials say they expect more confirmed cases in the coming days and urge residents to follow the guidelines outlined by the CDC and Department of Health.
Following Sunday’s announcement, four cases have been confirmed in Butler, with the first being announced on Saturday.
Butler Health System advises the public that if you are not feeling well, you should call your primary care doctor or BHS Care Center at 833-602-2273.
