Three of the four Major League Baseball Wild Card Series ended last night, with only the Milwaukee Brewers forcing a third game in the best-of-three series. The Brewers hit two home runs in the eighth inning, scoring three to come back from a 3-2 deficit and defeat the New York Mets 5-3 in their Game 2 in Milwaukee. The deciding game will be played tonight beginning at 7pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The winner will travel to Philadelphia Saturday afternoon to begin their National League Divisional Series.
The Detroit Tigers were the first team to move into the American League Divisional Round following a 5-2 victory and two-game sweep of the Houston Astros. The Tigers move on to meet division-rival Cleveland in a best-of-five series beginning Saturday afternoon.
Kansas City eliminated Baltimore with a 2-1 victory. The Royals meet the New York Yankees beginning Saturday night.
San Diego swept Atlanta following a 5-4 victory. Despite the win, the Padres lost former Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove in the fourth inning after he felt tightness in his pitching arm. He had allowed one run on one hit while striking out four over 3-2/3rds innings. Musgrove was limited to 19 starts this season because of arm issues.
The Padres meet the Los Angeles Dodgers beginning Saturday night.
