Three Monster Energy Series crew chiefs from Joe Gibbs Racing have been fined for rule violations discovered during pre-race inspection last Sunday before the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. In all three cases, splitters on their Toyotas did not meet NASCAR specifications. Chris Gayle, who works with Erik Jones, Adam Stevens (Kyle Busch) and Mike Wheeler (Denny Hamlin) were each fined twenty-five thousand dollars. Car chiefs from each of those teams were suspended for the June 24th race in Sonoma, California. This marks the third week in a row that J-G-R has been penalized. The Monster Energy Series will be idle for Father’s Day weekend, as teams prepare for the first of three road races in Sonoma on June 24th. Subsequent roadcourse events will be run in early August at Watkins Glen International and eight weeks later on the new infield course at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
