Three former Butler County Baseball players were taken in this year’s MLB Draft, which started on Thursday and concluded on Saturday.
Butler High School products Mick Fennell and Colin McKee were both drafted on Saturday. Colin McKee was the first area player drafted, as he was taken in the 18th round by the Houston Astros after finishing his career at Mercyhurst. Fennell, who recently finished his college career at California University of Pennsylvania, was taken in the 22nd round by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mars graduate David Bednar rounded out the list of area players drafted on Saturday. After finishing his career at Lafayette, he was taken in the 35th round by the San Diego Padres.
