The Butler County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the bomb threats that were called in to the Butler County Government Center last week.
Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe told our newsroom that everything is back to normal after two calls were received last Thursday. The first call came to a clerk in the prothonotary’s office and the second came in a few hours later to a clerk in the human services office.
Slupe said what was initiated next was “an immediate search of the buildings and a lot of searching by the deputies and the facility staff for anything suspicious, which there was not.”
Although it is unknown if the two calls were made by the same person, Slupe called the chances “highly probable.”
A second search was conducted Friday morning.
“We swept the court house, the government center, and the annex before anybody really came into the buildings on Friday,” Slupe explained.
According to Slupe, it has been a number of years since a similar situation of bomb threat calls were made at the county administrative offices.
