A familiar face will represent residents of Pennsylvania’s newly-redrawn 15th Congressional District in Washington, D.C.
Incumbent Republican Glenn “GT” Thompson prevailed over Democratic challenger Susan Boser with 68 percent of the vote.
In Butler County, the outcome was similar. Thompson beat Boser by more than 6,000 votes.
The new largely rural 15th district stretches as far east as Centre County and as far north as the New York state line. It encompasses much of eastern Butler County including Buffalo, Oakland and Summit Townships, as well as Chicora, Bruin and Petrolia boroughs.
“Thank you for using your vote to defend the great American comeback! I am humbled by the support of each and every one of you. We have four new counties in the district and I am very appreciative of the warm welcome I have received and the friends we have made along the way in Butler, Armstrong, Indiana and Cambria. Like my pledge to Clearfield and the other counties throughout the district, my commitment to the constituents remains: I will work hard, show up, and be accountable.Tonight’s victory was possible because you have allowed me to take your homegrown solutions to Washington. We have been effective at expanding services for our veterans and active duty troops. We have been effective at restoring the rungs on the ladder of opportunity for job seekers, through modernizing career and technical education. And together, we have been able to deliver on lower taxes, higher wages and a better economy for Pennsylvania’s families. But we are not done yet. There are many challenges ahead and we must continue to work in a positive manner and keep this country on track. Together I know we can continue to make a difference in the upcoming 116th Congress.”
