2019 marks the 100th anniversary of an important fixture in the borough of Saxonburg.
It was in 1919 that the four-sided Seth Thomas clock was installed in the steeple of the old Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, which was formerly the German Evangelical Protestant Church.
According to the Facebook page ‘Saxonburg Here For You,’ Saxonburg’s founder, John Roebling, donated land for the church and had it designed and constructed. Church services began in that location in 1837. The steeple and bell were added in 1863.
The old church sits at the end of Saxonburg’s Main Street, near Rebecca Street.
