With Pennsylvania’s budget stalemate dragging into a third month, a local man is trying to make changes from outside the system.
“I’ve talked to people and people are disgusted with government at all levels,” Butler County commissioner candidate Michael Badges-Canning said. ” I had no problem getting people to sign my petition. The reason was we need different voices.”
Badges-Canning is a Cherry Valley resident and running on the Green Party ticket in November’s election.
He feels strongly about Marcellus Shale drilling and impact fees, as well as making higher education more accessible.
When you run as a third party candidate, a certain number of signatures are necessary to ensure a s pot on the ballot. Badges-Canning says in his specific case, he needed 409 signatures, which is obtained.
Also on the ballot for Butler County Commissioner in two months will be Democrats Kevin Boozel and Jerry Johnston, as well as Republicans Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer.
