A Butler City man was recently a victim of a theft by distraction.
The Butler City Police say that on Friday, June 19th, a woman came to the victim’s Second Street apartment, and asked him to lend her money for a bus fee.
The suspect, who the victim didn’t know, came into the apartment while he retrieved the money. The suspect promised to come back on Monday to repay the victim.
After the incident, the victim noticed that the suspect stole $10 in quarters and a ceramic bank from his room.
Authorities say that on Monday (June 22nd), the suspect returned, and asked the victim for more favors. After this incident, the suspect made off with several small items. City police were contacted, and the victim provided a description of the suspect.
Officials say on Sunday, June 28th, Ricki Lee Double was arrested on an unrelated burglary warrant. Authorities took Double, who matched the victim’s description, over to the apartment, where she was identified as the suspect.
Double was then taken to the Butler County Prison.
