The Slippery Rock University football team moved up three places to No. 10 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II national poll, cracking the top 10 in the national rankings for the first time since 2000. The Rock finished the 1999 regular season ranked a program best No. 2 but has not appeared in the top 10 since the beginning of 2000, the first year the AFCA began releasing an official national poll. Slippery Rock is coming off a dominant performance on the road at Edinboro last weekend in which the offense racked up 600 total yards and the defense allowed just 215. The Rock defense held Edinboro to just one first down and 57 total yards in the entire second half.
The win at Edinboro kept Slippery Rock in control of the PSAC West entering the final week of the divisional schedule. The Rock can claim their third straight division title and earn a third straight trip to the PSAC championship game with a victory over Clarion at home . Kickoff is set for 1pm from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
