The Slippery Rock University football team made the biggest leap in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II national poll that was unveiled Monday afternoon, jumping six spots up to No. 12 after posting an overtime upset Saturday against then No. 5 California (Pa.)
Slippery Rock is the second of three teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to be listed in the top 25 this week with all three coming from the Western Division. Indiana (Pa.) held steady at No. 4 this week, while California (Pa.) dropped 11 spots to No. 16. The Vulcans and Crimson Hawks will meet this Saturday at Indiana. The Rock will host IUP for Homecoming the following Saturday, Oct. 14.
