The Slippery Rock University football team jumped two spots in this week’s American Football Coaches Association poll from number-15 to number-13 with three weeks remaining in the regular season. They jumped from number-15 to number-12 in the latest D2football.com poll. The Rock improved to 7-1 overall with a 41-40 victory over IUP last Saturday. Meanwhile, the first official Regional Rankings were released by the NCAA Monday, and Slippery Rock is ranked fourth in Super Region 1. Undefeated Shephers is ranked first, followed by Bowie State and Charleston. The top seven in the rankings following the regular season will advance into the NCAA tournament.
The Rock will visit Edinboro Saturday for a noon kick-off.
Clarion fell from the rankings this week after losing to California last week, but are listed sixth in the intial Regional Rankings. Gannon is 8th, while IUP is 9th. The team Slippery Rock defeated to open the season, New Haven is ranked 10th.
