Pennsylvania State Police say they investigated more crashes during the Thanksgiving weekend this year compared to last.
State police investigated 981 crashes between Wednesday and Sunday of the holiday weekend- marking a nearly 5.5 percent increase over last year’s 931 crashes. Four of the crashes this year were fatal. There were about 625 DUI arrests.
In Troop D- which covers Butler, Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer and Armstrong counties- there were 40 crashes, including one fatal accident. Troop D made 41 DUI arrests over Thanksgiving weekend.
These statistics only cover accidents investigated by state police and does not include other police departments.
