Through the generosity of local businesses, the City of Butler will have a fireworks show this 4th of July.
Butler City Mayor Ben Smith read off a list during a Butler City Council meeting on Thursday of several companies who donated to the city for the fireworks. The companies include NexTier Bank, Gateway Engineers, Butler Downtown, Pennsylvania American Water, Krill Recycling, the American Legion of West Sunbury and Cloud 9 Vapor.
At a meeting earlier this month, the city pledged to try to find $5,000 in their budget for a small display after not receiving any donations this year. Since then, the city has received more than $15,000 in donations.
Officials say the city won’t have to use any money from its budget and will be able to put on a display similar to ones put on for residents in year’s past.
