A 19-year-old man is accused of assaulting a state trooper early Sunday morning in Mercer County.
The incident occurred about 12:15 a.m. at a home in Coolspring Township.
State police say they received a call from someone saying several individuals were “hanging” out of a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler that was driving around Lake Latonka and Latonka Drive.
Troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Timothy Dunham initially kept going but eventually stopped on Latonka Drive.
According to police, Dunham got out of the Jeep and “abruptly” walked towards the troopers, ignoring their commands to stop. There was a brief struggle between Dunham and a trooper, who both fell to the ground. The trooper suffered a leg injury.
Dunham is now in the Mercer County Jail.
