A team of veterans from across the country have traveled to Butler to assist city and township residents with flood cleanup.
Butler City Councilwoman Kathy Kline says the organization is called Team Rubicon. The 25-person group will be canvassing the hard-hit areas with the Red Cross this week and helping residents dry out their basements.
“They specialize in disaster clean-up,” Kline said Monday. “They are going to focus on black water clean-up.”
The group is staying at a local church and will be in town for the week.
“One of the things that has been the biggest concern is the black water that is sitting in residents’ basements,” Kline said. “You can pay people to come in and clean it up, but this group will do it for free.”
Councilwoman Kline and Butler Township Commissioner Dave Zarnick will discuss the organization more in depth on WISR at 12:30 p.m.
