Teachers in the South Butler School District are holding a rally before Wednesday’s school board meeting.
Teachers and supporters will gather at 6:40 p.m. outside Knoch Middle School. The school board meeting is at 7 p.m.
During the meeting, the ongoing contract dispute between the teachers and the district is expected to once again be a topic of discussion. Two different state-appointed fact-finders have come in to assist to no avail. The school board accepted the latest conditions recommended by the mediator, but the union rejected them.
The teachers union said last week they are still willing to work with the district, but if a compromise does not happen soon, they will strike. The two sides have been working without a contract for three years.
