It’s tax day.
If you haven’t submitted your income tax return yet then it’s time to think about filing for an extension. You can get an automatic six-month extension by filing Form 4868.
But, even if the IRS grants you more time, you still need to pay the taxes you owe by today…or as much as you can. There are payment plans available.
IRS officials say the worst thing you could do is not file, even if you don’t have the money to pay right now. If you don’t file a return or an extension, you’ll face IRS failure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties and interest.
