A man from Tarentum, PA is facing several charges after leading police on a high speed chase just after 12:00 a.m. this ( Saturday ) morning.
According to the police report, 25-year-old Maurice Franklin was traveling 87 mph in a posted 55 mph zone on route 28. He attempted to elude police by exiting route 28 at Tarentum, ditching his vehicle in the parking lot of Ringers Pet Dog Training and then fled on foot. Police found Franklin a short time later at his residence, which was only about one block from where he abandoned his vehicle.
Once in custody, it was found he was wanted out of the Butler City Police Department for robbery and other related charges. Franklin was lodged in the Armstrong County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Butler County. Charges are pending for fleeing and eluding police.
A total of five police departments assisted at the scene.
