A group of Seneca Valley students want the district to rename the middle school after an SV grad who was killed in Afghanistan.
The Ryan Gloyer Middle School would honor Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Gloyer, a 2000 SV graduate and Zelienople resident who was killed in combat in 2016.
The students formed a committee and presented their idea to the school board Tuesday night. Gloyer’s father and one of his fellow soldiers also spoke about Gloyer’s personality and his impact on others.
Gloyer was a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets.
