The Rio Olympics ended yesterday but the staff at the Seneca Valley School District were greeted by an Olympian this morning.
USA Hockey Gold Medalist from the 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia Rico Roman spoke to the group during an annual welcome back program.
Roman is a Purple Heart recipient and served three tours in Iraq. His vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in 2007, injuring both of his legs. His left leg was eventually amputated above the knee.
This year’s welcome back event has the Olympic theme of “Live Your Passion” and included student athletes and medals for years of service.
