Three men accused of breaking into an American Legion near Freeport may have been involved in at least eight social club burglaries in the region.
Bryan Delandro, 27, of Pittsburgh, Gary Nau, 42, of Munhall and Christopher Sullivan, 38, of South Park are accused of the Dec. 1 burglary at the Schenley-Freeport American Legion in Gilpin, Armstrong County (near the Butler County line). They remain in the Armstrong County Jail pending a preliminary hearing.
They have only been charged in the Gilpin break-in but troopers are investigating similar burglaries at American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose clubs in Beaver, Elk, Crawford and Mercer counties. The burglars in those cases are thought to have used a dark-colored Jeep Patriot, which is the type of vehicle the three men were arrested in Dec. 1.
