A suspect has been named in the case involving a fallen Westmoreland County police officer who had local connections.
On Friday night, 26-year-old Brian Shaw from the New Kensington Police Department, was fatally shot in the chest while conducting a traffic stop.
Our news partners at WPXI say that Shaw had Butler County connections, as he graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2013 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Shaw also served as the football team’s kicker.
Early Sunday morning, officials named 29-year-old Rahmael Holt as the suspect in Friday’s shooting. A manhunt had been ongoing for Holt, who is considered armed and dangerous. Officials say that a reward is being offered for information leading to Holt’s arrest, which totaled $40,000 on Sunday morning.
