The Supreme Court will allow Pennsylvania congressional redistricting to proceed.
Top Republican lawmakers had asked the court to step in, arguing that the state court’s decision lacks clarity, precedent and respect for the constitution and would introduce chaos into the state’s congressional races.
Justice Samuel Alito rejected the request on Monday. That means the Pennsylvania legislature has until Friday to submit a new map to Gov. Wolf.
All of Butler County is included in the 3rd Congressional District and is represented by Rep. Mike Kelly. Three Democratic challengers have announced their intention to run.
