A popular sunscreen is being voluntarily recalled.
Consumers know the product name of Banana Boat. Edgewell Personal Care Company announced the recall for its scalp spray because it contains trace amounts of benzene, which was detected from internal reviews.
The recall of Banana Boat Hair and Scalp Spray SPF 30 came on Friday. The batches affected had lot codes of 20016AF, 20084BF, and 21139AF. All three products have different years in which they expire. No other Banana Boat products were included.
According to the company’s press release, benzene is not an ingredient in the solution that makes up the product, but it was found in ‘the propellant that sprays the product out of the can’.
