Members of the Butler Area Summit School Water Committee met Thursday with government representatives and will soon begin to develop a plan to address problems.
According to Acting Butler Superintendent Dr. William Pettigrew, Thursday’s meeting included representatives from the Department of Environmental Protection Water Division as well as water engineers Gannett Fleming. This meeting was required in order to discuss letters of violation the district has received from the DEP the past few months.
New test results are being analyzed by Gannett Fleming and will be posted to the district’s website on Monday. The Butler School Board will then use those results to develop a feasibility plan that will include either ways to correct well water or how tapping into public water would be accomplished.
There is no deadline for when the feasibility study needs to be completed but it will need to be submitted to the DEP. Pettigrew estimates that it could take a few months to follow all the needed steps in this process.
