An elementary school in the Butler Area School District that has been closed due to unsafe water may reopen after Winter Break.
In a letter sent to parents on Friday, Superintendent Dr. Brian White said that he will propose to the Butler School Board on Monday (Dec. 4th) that students begin class at Summit Elementary on January 3rd.
This announcement comes after two tests were completed on the school’s water in November, which provided positive results to administration.
If the motion is approved at Monday’s school board meeting, Summit students and faculty will see a modified schedule over the next several weeks. The schedule will begin on December 21st, which will see students spending the day at the Intermediate School while teachers pack their belongings before a December 22nd holiday.
Summit teachers will then use the Winter Break to move their classroom supplies and materials back to the school. January 2nd will also be a designated school holiday for Summit Elementary students. As for January 22nd and February 16th, Summit students and faculty will be in the classroom for a regular school day.
