Summer programs in the Butler City Parks will look a little different this year.
Butler City Council approved a motion Thursday night to permit the Butler YMCA to conduct their summer camp at Memorial Park. After the YMCA made the decision to close Armco Camp for the summer, organizers still wanted to hold the camps so they asked the city to be able to use Rotary Shelter, Bauer Shelter, Miller Shelter, and the Firehouse Shelter.
Council also approved a motion to enter into an agreement with the Butler Areas School District to enhance the Butler City Recreational Program with an educational component. The district had already committed to taking over providing lunches this summer which led to conversations about additional outreach to the city community and this agreement to assist. This program will be held in the Optimist Shelter.
More specific information about the dates and times for these programs will be made available in the future.
