Summer can be a difficult time for kids who would normally receive a free or reduced lunch at school.
To help families struggling with providing food, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is once again offering the Summer Food Program.
There are several locations in Butler County that will hold the program, which is free to all children 18-years-old and younger. Locations at the Madison Grove Apartments in Slippery Rock, the Slippery Rock Community Park and the Brady Hills Mobile Home Park in Slippery Rock will open Monday. Lunch will be served Monday through Friday from noon until 1 p.m.
Other locations will open later this month and continue through August including the Butler YMCA, Butler Memorial Park, South Hills Playground, Old Plank Estates, Greenview Gardens and other locations.
No registration is required. Families should call 2-1-1 or text FOOD to 877-877 with questions or for updated information.
There will be no meals served on July 4.
