If you are out shopping this weekend, consider lending a helping hand to those less fortunate in our area by Stuffing The Bus.
The collection will take place this Sunday, Nov. 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clearview Mall Garfield entrance.
“This is our third year to deliver this service and it is continuing to grow each year,” Executive Director of the Butler Transit Authority John Paul said. “We thought that this is a great way to deliver some gifts and keep these donations in the Butler area. We’re hoping to make it even bigger and better this year because there is a lot of need out there.”
Items needed include unwrapped toys, non-perishable food items, and new kids’ clothing sizes 5 to 14.
Major Irene Thibault of the Salvation Army in Butler reports that because of an increase in the number of people signing up for assistance this year, the program is being expanded.
“We’re also doing something new this year. We are giving a box of canned goods, along with turkey, to go with the toy packages as well as a gift certificate. Clients are all going to get that so they can have a good holiday,” Thibault explained.
