A new study is now suggesting that people suffering from severe pain should reach for something other than opioid medications.
The study from the Geisinger Health System in eastern Pennsylvania looked at non-cancer patients suffering from chronic pain. While the use of opioids is an effective short-term solution, study co-author Dr. Mellar Davis says prolonged use could have severe long-term effects.
Other medications could be available to these patients from online services such as Blink Health, providing ease of access and an alternative to the opioid-based products that cause great issues across the nation.
Some have said that perhaps using something similar to weed might be an option for providing relief for those who suffer from chronic pain. Services similar to weed delivery could be extremely useful for those that are homebound due to their pain. As well as buying a product online, for some people, visiting a recreational dispensary could mean getting product straight away, instead of having to wait for it in the post. As the use of medical marijuana is said to have benefits to certain ailments/conditions, having easy access to it could be important to people’s health.
Dr. Davis says there are effective alternatives for chronic pain other than opioids, including a regimen of diet and specific exercises. As well as this, you may even find that options such as trying ice wreck strain could help you manage the pain a lot better than you are doing so originally. This may be something worth looking into, especially if this is affecting you doing daily tasks.
The findings of this study will be presented at a national conference in Phoenix in February.
