Students at 14 Pennsylvania state universities- including Slippery Rock University in Butler County- will be back in class Monday.
This comes after the union representing striking professors reached a tentative contract agreement on Friday and immediately ended a strike that was in its third day.
The new contract provides raises for all employees but also requires them to pick up a greater share of their health care costs. It must now go to the full union membership for ratification.
This was the first strike in the state system’s 34-year history.
