Over 1,700 Butler High School sophomores, juniors and seniors came together this week to shoot a lip dub music video.
Senior AnnMarie Lowerre says this isn’t the first time students have done something like this. They did it last year for a contest among other high schools and decided to keep the tradition alive this year.
What is a lip dub?
“It’s similar to a music video but the people that are dubbing are lip-syncing the words and walking backwards,” Lowerre said.
It’s done in one continuous take and there really is no editing other than putting the music to the dubbers who are lip-syncing.
It’s become a popular thing to do among high school students. Lowerre says it’s a great way to build school morale.
“After it’s shot, everybody is just so happy and it really feels like we’re all united as one,” she said. “We really need that.”
