The South Butler County School District will purchase a large number of Chromebook computers to ensure students and teachers are able to continue the learning process regardless of health concerns.
Wednesday night the South Butler Board first approved the purchase of 650 Chromebooks from Acer Financial through the district’s expiring lease agreement for a total cost of $26,000. These computers will be repurposed for use by elementary students throughout the district. Funding for this purchase will come from the federal CARES Act.
The school board also approved the purchase of 170 touch screen Chromebooks from All Lines Technology at a total cost of just over $42,000. These computers will be used by teachers and this price includes all necessary licensing so that teachers can see what students are seeing on their screens and provide enhanced instruction.
