An 11-year-old has been charged for bringing two knives to Friday’s Butler High School football game.
The Butler Township Police Department described the weapons as “large folding knives.” Officers say someone saw the knives and told school police, who then subsequently called Butler Township officers. Authorities say the girl did cooperate. There are no metal detectors at the football stadium.
The girl was charged with possessing a weapon on school property. Her charges will play out in juvenile court.
Butler School officials say there is a district-wide weapons policy in place but they can not disclose what, if any, actions will be taken against the student because of confidentiality laws.
