A series of strong storms rolled through Butler County early Wednesday evening leaving some residents without power.
Around 4:30 p.m. strong storms hit southern Butler County bringing down power lines onto vehicles in Buffalo Township. A tree on powerlines was reported in Adams Township while a utility pole was reported to be on fire in Winfield Township.
About an hour later, residents reported a transformer explosion near Sumner Avenue in Butler City resulting in the closure of Morton Avenue. Trees blocked Powder Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township as well as Hall Road in Clay Township and Swamp Run Road in Center Township. Wires on the road were also reported on Highland Avenue in Butler Township along with Dutchtown and Beacon Light Roads in Penn Township.
Additionally, over 300 West Penn Power customers in the Harrisville area were without power.
