There is still time to sign up to participate in a fundraiser to benefit a great cause scheduled.
“Strike Out HD: 2nd Annual Wood’s Warriors Bowl-For-A-Cure” will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Family Bowlaway in Butler.
Sisters Kiersten and Kierra Wood, of Butler, have organized this event to benefit the fight against Huntington’s Disease after their mother was diagnosed eight years ago. Huntington’s is a genetic disorder that causes a breakdown of nerve cells in the brain and has no known cure.
In addition to bowling, those attending will be able to enjoy pizza, pop, a bake sale, basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and other prizes. Last year, this event raised $7,000 and Kiersten and Kierra’s dad Shane Wood points out the money raised this year will again benefit people in our local community.
“Any kind of donations would be great and we greatly appreciate it” Wood says. “Every penny we make goes to the Western Pennsylvania Huntington’s Disease Society of America. It stays in the area and helps everyone here.”
The cost is $20 for adults and $12 for kids. Those interested should call 724-486-3044 or email [email protected].
