Severe storms swept through Butler County Friday afternoon resulting in power being knocked out to many residents.
The storms hit the city of Butler around 2 p.m. bringing high winds and heavy rain.
According to West Penn Power, nearly 1,100 residents are without power as of just after 2 p.m. including nearly 500 in Washington Township, over 200 in Venango Township, and over 100 in Summit Township and Eau Claire Borough. Estimated time of restoration is around 5 p.m.
Central Electric Cooperative is reporting 50 outages in Butler County with the majority of those in Allegheny Township.
