Wednesday marks 17 years since two teenagers were killed on a road in Forward Township—and police are still trying to figure out who was responsible.
Scott Fosnaught and Shawn Baur were both 15-year-old Seneca Valley students back in 2002 when in the early hours of July 17th, a passing motorist found the two boys along Cashdollar Road.
Police say the two boys were walking home from a field party when Fosnaught was most likely hit by a passing vehicle that killed him instantly. Baur was barely alive when police arrived, and died soon thereafter.
It’s the injury that killed Baur, however, that is baffling to officials. He suffered only head trauma, an injury police say is not normally associated with a vehicle accident. No manner of Baur’s death has ever been determined.
Police also didn’t see skid marks, broken glass, or vehicle parts at the scene.
In the years since, no credible suspects have been identified. Rewards for information about their deaths total at least $20,000.
*A previous edition of this story had incorrectly identified Fosnaught and Baur’s first names.
