Roush Fenway Racing announced Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. will not return to their #17 car next season in the Cup Series. Chris Buescher will replace him. Stenhouse, Jr. has driven the car for the past seven seasons, and Roush held options on him through the next two seasons. Stenhouse has two Cup Series wins in the #17, but is winless this season and did not make the playoffs. He is currently 23rd in the point standings. Stenhouse, Jr. won two Xfinity Series titles for Roush before he replaced Matt Kenseth at the Cup level.
The Cup Series drivers head to Charlotte this weekend to race on the “roval” course. It is the final segment of the opening round of their playoffs. Hear coverage Sunday at 1:30pm on WBUT.
