The Steelers just needed to win their final two games to ensure a spot in the playoffs. Now, the Steelers have to look elsewhere to see if they’ll get in as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens 20-17.
Ben Roethlisberger struggled as he threw two interceptions, while only throwing for 215 yards. Meanwhile, his counterpart, Ryan Mallet—who was getting his first start at quarterback for the Ravens, threw for 274 yards and one touchdown.
DeAngelo Williams did have a promising day on the ground, as he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers will face the Cleveland Browns next week, but will need some help from the Buffalo Bills to get into the postseason.
The Bills take on the New York Jets—who currently holds the six seed in the playoff picture. If the Bills beat the Jets and the Steelers win against Cleveland, the Steelers will be in the playoffs.
The other scenario where the Steelers could be in the postseason, would be two straight losses by the Denver Broncos and a Steelers win against the Browns. Denver hosts Cincinnati tonight and faces the San Diego Chargers next week.
