The Pittsburgh Steelers have given head coach Mike Tomlin a one-year contract extension as training camp begins. The deal will keep Tomlin through at least the 2021 season. Tomlin is entering his 13th season with the team. He has a record of 125-66-1 and has led the team to six AFC North Division titles, two AFC Championships and one Super Bowl victory. The 47-year old Tomlin had one year remaining on a contract extension he signed in 2017.
Tomlin’s current win total is third among active coaches, and behind only Bill Belichick and Andy Reid. The Steelers have the second-most wins in the NFL under Tomlin, behind only the Patriots.
The first practice of the new season is today at 2:55pm in Latrobe. The practice is open to the public.
Steelers linebacker T. J. Watt tweaked a hamstring in the Steelers conditioning test Thursday. He will begin training camp on the “physically unable to perform” list.
