The Pittsburgh Steelers are holding their first team practices of the spring. Running back Le’Veon Bell and center Maurkice Pouncey returned to the field for the first time since injuries ended their season last year.
The team has announced the Detroit Lions will participate in two joint training camp pratices. The Lions will join the Steelers in Latrobe August 9th and 10th, two days prior to the preseason opener against Detroit at Heinz Field.
The NFL announced Tuesday that Super Bowls have been awarded to Atlanta in 2019, Miami in 2020 and Los Angeles in 2021.
The Sporting News has named Slippery Rock University football players Marcus Martin of West Mifflin and Joe LoSchiavo from Lakewood, Ohio as Preseason All-Americans and has ranked The Rock 9th overall in the Division II Preseason Rankings listed in the annual college football preview issue of the magazine that is on newstands now.This marks the second straight year Slippery Rock has been ranked ninth by Sporting News in the preseason poll. It is also the second straight Preseason All-America recognition for Martin by the publication and is the first for LoSchiavo.
The Rock are one of five teams in Super Region One to appear in the Sporting News preseason poll and are one of three teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Indiana (Pa.) is the highest ranked team from the region fourth. Shepherd, last year’s national runner-up that defeated both Indiana and Slippery Rock in back-to-back rounds in the playoffs, is ranked fifth.
