Oral arguments were heard yesterday by the state Supreme Court to determine whether or not mail-in ballots are unconstitutional.
It was a three hour hearing debating the merits of Act 77—a bipartisan law that allowed no-excuse mail-in ballots.
Republicans have argued that the state constitution requires people to go to the polls and cast a ballot. Democrats, meanwhile, say that there is a provision in the constitution that gives the legislature power to enact changes to voting.
The court is not expected to make its decision prior to this spring’s primary, meaning that no-excuse mail-in ballots will most likely still be used.
