After house Democrats and Republicans elected their leadership for the 2024 to 2026 legislative session senate Democrats and Republicans have elected theirs.
Republicans reelected Sen. Kim Ward to serve as the interim Senate President Pro Tempore until the senate holds an election on Jan. 7. With Republicans in control of the Senate it’s expected Ward will be reelected.
Republicans also reelected Joe Pittman, who represents parts of Armstrong County, as the Senate Majority Leader.
Democrats reelected Pittsburgh State Senator Jay Costa as the party’s leader in the senate and elected Tina Tartaglione, a representative from Philadelphia, to serve as the caucus whip.
