State Representative Daryl Metcalfe- who represents constituents in Middlesex Township where the Rt. 228 improvement project will take place- called the $20 million federal grant a ‘huge win.’
Metcalfe said the project will increase public safety, economic development, and create jobs.
“A safe and reliable transportation network is essential for expanding access to employment, social, health and educational services for my constituents and others,” Metcalfe said in a statement. “Especially with the addition of the Shell Company’s ethane cracker plant in neighboring Beaver County, this successful BUILD grant is even more critical in helping to ease traffic congestion and expanding job creation opportunities across our rapidly growing region.”
The state lawmaker doesn’t have a vote in the process of prioritizing funding for core infrastructure improvements in Butler County, but he says he remains a vocal advocate for the transportation needs of the 12th legislative district.
