State Police in Kittanning are warning residents of a phone scam that was recently reported.
Authorities say that an unknown caller claiming to work for West Penn Power recently contacted at least one known victim, and stated that the victim’s power was going to be shut down for various reasons. The caller then told the individual to purchase multiple MoneyPak gift cards and give them the card information to restore power to their residence.
If you receive a phone call similar to this one, verify with West Penn Power before giving any information and contact the local police department
