A written bomb threat was discovered Tuesday morning inside a bathroom at Karns City High School.
According to the district, the threat was for later in the afternoon. State Police were immediately notified and were able to identify the individual responsible for the threat and also determine that there was no bomb.
Superintendent Eric Ritzert says the school day will continue as scheduled and school will be dismissed at the regular time.
“The safety of our students and staff is a priority at Karns City Area School District. The district takes all threats very seriously and will implement all appropriate disciplinary action under out student code of conduct and the Pennsylvania State law,” Ritzert said in a letter to parents that was posted Tuesday afternoon.
Parents were also notified of the situation via a text message about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
There are five school police officers working at Karns City School District, all of whom are retired school police officers.
