As we head into the summer months, one lawmaker is raising awareness about skin cancer.
State Senator Pat Browne notes that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with more than 3.5 million cases diagnosed each year.
Browne specifically talks about one form of skin cancer, known as melanoma.
“American Cancer Society estimates that in 2022, 99,000 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed in the United States and around 7,600 will die from melanoma,” Browne said.
Doctors advise limiting time in the sun and applying sunscreen to help prevent skin cancer.
